Trudy Sattler    CPDT, HTAP

I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) and Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner (HTAP) in Calgary, Alberta. For the past 35 years, I have been involved with animal welfare in many different aspects, with the last 17 years focusing on dogs. I left the corporate life of a mortgage broker/underwriter and spent two years working with rescue groups in First Nation communities. Along with re-homing countless animals, we recognized the necessity to reduce the over-population of cats and dogs. Spay/neuter programs were initiated with many rescue organizations and the Alberta Spay Neuter Task Force (now called Canadian Animal Task Force) was formed.

As I filled my home with many foster dogs, I recognized that I lacked the skills to help these dogs transition from street living to city life. To gain awareness, I volunteered at a dog training facility. From there, my career changed over to a dog trainer as I earned my CPDT credentials instructing puppy, foundation and manners classes along with supervising doggy daycare.

I have been staying current with the latest theories and techniques of reward-based training and canine behavior by attending seminars and workshops with Tellington TTouch, Sue Sternberg, Sarah Kalnajs, Turid Rugaas, Dr. Ian Dunbar, Suzanne Clothier,  Grisha Stewart, John Rogerson, Trish King, Kay Laurence, Steve White, Nicole Wilde, Emily Larlham, Dr. Karen Overall, and "Aggression in Dogs" workshop with Michael Shikashio and Trish McMilland Loehr.

Having completed my level 4 and Advanced Proficiency training with Healing Touch for Animals®, I am able to combine energy work into the training sessions. This provides additional well-being to both the dogs and their humans.

I look forward to working with you and your canine companion.

For the Animals,

Trudy
